The very name of the guesthouse „Na Bělidle“ gives an idea of what the building was used for at the time of its construction and for a long time afterwards. At the time of the industrialisation of the Českokamenický Kinský estate, textile production was concentrated in Krásná Lípa and its surroundings. Bleachers (Bělidla) or also „plajchy“ were used to further refine both yarn and already woven linen. In the last quarter of the 18th century, almost forty bleachers were working in Krásná Lípa and its surroundings, of which ours was one of the largest.
The results of recent research show that although the portal of the entrance door bears the year 1770, this is probably not the date of the building’s construction, but the date of its later alterations. The age of the building is estimated at 250 years. This should not discourage the visitor, on the contrary. After a demanding and sensitive reconstruction of the building, during which both the brick and timbered elements of the building were emphasized, a stylish family-type guesthouse with the atmosphere and romance of the old times was created. This is enhanced by the interior furnishings which, thanks to the period furniture installed, give visitors a glimpse into the past while enjoying all the comforts of the present.
